Soilytix

Soilytix, a Hamburg-based biotech company, uses DNA sequencing and machine learning to decode soil DNA, offering insights to optimize crop yields and promote sustainable agriculture globally.

Problem

In the coming years, companies must report and maintain their carbon emissions. Coillte needs a comprehensive understanding of carbon quantity and distribution on their properties, which is challenging to measure accurately at the required scale.

Solution

Soilytix uses environmental DNA (eDNA) and machine learning to analyze soil biodiversity, enhance yields, match seeds to soils, and understand how microbial communities sequester carbon; revealing how much is stored and how to increase it.

Meet the Team

Soilytix is led by CEO Dr. Bruno Steinkraus, who sets the company's vision and Chief Commercial Officer Julien Winkel, who oversees business development. Together with their experienced team of ecologists and biodiversity experts they advance soil microbiome analytics to enhance global crop yields and promote sustainable agriculture.

Why Coillte is exploring advanced land monitoring

Coillte requires deep insight into the health and condition of thousands of acres of land across Ireland in order to further reforestation efforts - Soilytix can achieve this by sampling soil micro-organisms and analysing them with innovative methods to determine key metrics.
